Operates lathe to grind jewel bearings to specified thickness:
Mounts fixture in chuck of lathe and inserts jewel bearing into
recess of fixture, usnig tweezers. Mounts grinding disk
imprengated with diamond dust on opposite faceplate of lathe.
Manipulates controls to bring bearing into contcat with grinding
disk and to govern grinding process, working to tolerances of
0.0005 inch. Examines bearings, using measuring instruments,
such as guages and micrometers, to ensure conformance with
specifications.
